We meet to share our experience of growing up in an environment where abuse, neglect and trauma infected us. This affects us today and influences how we deal with all aspects of our lives.

ACA provides a safe, nonjudgmental environment that allows us to grieve our childhoods and conduct an honest inventory of ourselves and our family—so we may

(i) identify and heal core trauma,

(ii) experience freedom from shame and abandonment,

and (iii) become our own loving parents.

What is the Washington State ACA Intergroup?

An Intergroup is formed to provide a forum for conducting ACA business within a given geographical area. An Intergroup is composed of elected members from the local ACA groups. The individual groups continue to conduct their own business, and area business is conducted by elected representatives from the individual groups, each speaking for their group, at Intergroup meetings.

Intergroup services include:

• Discounted literature in bulk to registered Groups (see Literature).

• Helping coordinate area activities, such as helplines, public information efforts and events—

- Communications (website, email, etc.)

- Literature

- Group-Specific Information and Public Outreach (also see 7th Tradition…)

- Member (Fellow Traveller) Services, such as—

> Live faces and voices of people who live here.

> We are not "on the clock"…

> We listen with the intent of assistance, including on cross-talking, disruptive people, "13th-stepping," safety issues, etc.

> We assist with the guidelines for new meetings getting started, or meetings needing to close.

> We are a sympathetic guide to exploring and using the WSO website.

> We know our geography, weather, freeways, hiways, and backroads better than someone in another state.

> You just want to talk with another adult child who isn't in your meeting.

7th Tradition—ACA is Self-Supporting:

ACA's Seventh Tradition states that "Every ACA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions." Individual and group contributions are the critical part of maintaining ACA's services at all service levels, helping deliver the ACA message to the adult child who still suffers.

Donations to Intergroup help fund the operations of both Intergroup and WSO—WSO use its funds primarily for overall ACA purchases (literature, etc.), communications, outreach and coordination:

Discounted Literature through Intergroup

Why order through Intergroup? You save 30% on everything WSO sells – books, pamphlets, coins, etc. – as long as your order is over $100. Intergroup does not use selling books as a fundraiser—it is a non-profit service Intergroup gratefully provides to support your groups and your recovery.

- If your order is under 100.00 you could contact another group close to you with which you could combine your order(s) to get the discount.

- Contact the Intergroup Literature (Co-)Chair via email with your contact information, name of your meeting,

items and quantities of each to purchase. The (Co-)Chair will get back to you with your total, including tax and shipping. You need to pay for the order prior to it being placed, and there are several ways to pay, which we will discuss when you are given the amount owed.

- Once the order is placed with WSO it takes 6-10 days for delivery.
